Saturday 20 December 1969- Man Utd Wrestle Impressive Win Against Leeds

Manchester United won the arm wrestle against Leeds United on Saturday. While Leeds held Best so well, he was irrelevant to the result, it allowed Bobby Charlton to belt a couple of humdingers to give the Old Trafford team the victory. That was their third win in a row. Meanwhile Leeds have not won in 5 games.

Burnley returned to winning way with an emphatic win against Southamtpon. The Saints have not won in 9 games and have only scored 1 goal in 6 matches. Southampton have now lost 6 away games in a row.


Chelsea’s home draw with Manchester City means they haven’t won in 7 games, while City have stopped a loss streak of 3 games.

Liverpool were back to winning ways at a disappointing Coventry, their first away win in 5 games.

Derby’s fine win at Everton was due to their strong tempo and it was their second away win in a row. Everton have only won 1 home game in the last 7.

Forest have a tough home win against a tough and competitive Wolves. Wolverhampton’s 5 game win streak ended on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday’s win against Arsenal have continued their good run of results, which has stretched their without loss streak to 7 games. Arsenal have only managed 1 away win in their last 10 away games.

Stoke have now lost 3 in a row with their entertaining home loss to Palace. Palace have now won 3 away games in a row.

West Ham traveled to White Hart Lane and their draw stopped Spurs’ 11 game winning streak. The Hammers have now gone 9 games without loss and 7 away games without losing.

Sunderland had a predictable big win and their winning way continue to the first division championship. For West Brom, it was a predictable loss, 12 now in a row and 7 home losses in a row and are facing relegation.
