Manchester United 1 ( Charlton 55 )
Tottenham Hotspur 3 ( Chivers 3, 79 Greaves 26 )
Tottenham Hotspur traveled up to Old Trafford, with strong form in hand and a team pulsing with confidence and a will to win. They cam away with an enhanced confidence and perhaps a quiet thought that perhaps they might be sunderland’s only true rival. If Sunderland ever start losing.
The Spurs forwards were sublime, interpassing between each other, with Gilzean pulling the strings and Chivers and Greaves gaining the glory.
Besides George Best, the United team were below their best, second best to almost everything. Best has carried them in previous matches but not today, Spurs were too good a team even for George Best.
