League Cup Semi – Finals
Bradford City 1
Leeds United 3
Manchester Utd 2
Leeds displayed their awesome power against a Bradford side that could not keep up with Leeds’ physical strength and creative thinking.
Leeds scored half way through the first half and many presumed that Bradford would fold. However they battled and created a few chances. With seconds to go in the first half, and the referee drawing the whistle to his mouth, Bradford equalised from a corner.
That might’ve given Bradford some hope, but Leeds came out and attacked Bradford like a tsunami and it only took a couple of minutes into the second half to retake the lead. With 20 minutes to go Leeds scored their third to secure the first leg win and most probably have booked their ticket to the final.
Meanwhile Manchester United snatched a deserved 2-1 win at Goodison Park, with George Best once again providing the magic and sheer bravado.
