Arsenal Hit Back to Draw But Miss Chance to Win
Saturday 1 November 1969
Crystal Palace 1 (Bartram 31)
Arsenal 1 (Armstrong 52)
Not a classic match by any stretch of the imagination, but adequate enough under the circumstances. Crystal Palace looked the better side in the first half and indeed took the lead, Bartram the scorer.
Just over half an hour gone and Woodruff is steaming forward.
Woodruff receives the ball out side the box and searches to pass it on.
Queen to Kember.
Kember opens the Arsenal defence with a deft pass to Bertram.
Bartram puts Palace 1-0 up.
Arsenal too hold of the reins in the second half and turned it into a one horse race.
Arsenal’s Radford looking for a free man.
Radford finds Graham. Graham spots an opening.
Graham with a subtle poke finds a surging Armstrong in the penalty box.
He was to go on and miss a golden chance in the last minute of the game, with only the keeper to beat.
