Liverpool 1 (St John 52)
Nottingham Forest 3 (Moore 2, Lyons 23, Richardson 63)
Nottingham Forest produced a confident and assured display at Anfield to surprise the local team and to really showcase them sitting second on the table is no fluke. They deserve it.
From Moore scoring in the second minute till Richardson sealing the win, Forest were in control and sumptuous in their passing and play construction. Meanwhile Liverpool looked nervous and apprehensive. Their goal early in the second gave them a little hope of a revival. Alas Forest didn’t allow them any more freedom. They slowly suffocated Liverpool’s momentum and won it back themselves. When they made it 3-1 the match was over. It’s questionable whether they’ll be able to maintain their position on the table with Manchester United breathing down their neck, but for now they deserve the plaudits headed their way.
