20 September 1969
It was a Saturday of goals with an average of almost 4.5 goals per game.
Newcastle and Spurs scored 5 goals each on their away trips, while West Ham and Wednesday shared 8 goals between them West Ham were behind 4 times but managed to equalise each time. While Sunderland and Forest played an exhilarating 3-3 draw, Ipswich seemed to have easily beat Everton 3-0. Until you realise the Ipswich keeper made 6 great saves and three of those were one on ones! Coventry twice in front at Manchester City only to find themselves 3-2 down. They finally got an equaliser in a mistake ridden match.
