Sunderland Win To Stay Top

August 20 1969

A regulation 2-0 win at home to struggling Crystal Palace kept Sunderland on top of the pile, the only team with a 100% record.

Behind Sunderland are a host of teams who are ready for Sunderland to slip. Manchester United played a fine game and won away to Everton, while a gallant West Ham came away from Stamford Bridge with a win as well. Arsenal overpowering 4-1 over champions Leeds has pushed them upwards as well.
